These crazy yet possible ideas from our childhood are gradually now being realized with the constant development of technologies.

While these technologies increase productivity and efficiency and would be helpful for academic institutions, and as we look forward to the wonders of AI, we must also remember to take steps or set some rules to raise awareness of its responsible adoption.

AI is one such new-age technology that has contributed to the industry. Leveraging AI in transportation helps increase passengers’ safety in the sector, reduce traffic congestion and accidents, reduce carbon emissions, and reduce overall financial costs.

AI is fast developing and widely used both internationally and locally. Developed countries are investing in the advancement of this technology to support a better, efficient and highly productive economy, and to advance practices in different sectors like health, agriculture, fishing and forestry. Moreover, the development hopes to facilitate better finance, retail and manufacturing systems to further boost the national and local economy.
This, to the least extent, seeks to improve government and administration, as well as health. However, based on research findings, there are negative externalities that come with the unregulated development and adoption AI. Possible impacts are job loss for works considered as repetitive- the nature which can be accomplished by the machines/AI, data privacy issues if not properly handled and many others.
Hence, we as a people, through a policy, must prepare, and put proper safety nets before AI is fully maximized to steer away from a possible future where many people start losing their jobs. We are not against AI rather we support its harmonious integration into the society provided that workers’ welfare is also considered.
